Professor Caroline Brettell, Immigration Reform: National Policy and Local Impacts
Anthropologist Caroline Brettell, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized immigration expert who recently was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
She can discuss how the technology boom affects immigration, trends of new immigration gateway cities such as Dallas, Atlanta and Minneapolis and the challenges of women immigrants. Her research interests include anthropology of Europe; migration and ethnicity; folk religion; and cross-cultural perspectives on gender. An immigrant herself, Brettell was born in Canada and became a U.S. citizen in 1993.
